Construction
Helix
For the Helix mattress, the primary structure consists of three dynamic foam layers and a coil layer, covered by two layers of super soft and lightweight fabric. Overall, we love the four-layered structure, as it provides not only the required firmness and support but also seems to leave behind a quality that is unmatched by any other mattress.
Casper
As for the Casper, we don’t think a mattress can get any more diverse. And we’re not talking about the material; surely all four layers of the Casper are made of high-density memory foam. We’re talking about features. The construction of the Casper may not be anything new, as almost every mattress nowadays uses memory foam. But leave it to Casper to juxtapose these layers in the most profound arrangement possible.
Foam Layers
The Casper and Helix both use viscoelastic polyurethane foam, but the Helix also uses a coiled layer:
Helix Mattress
It consists of a dynamic polyfoam, high-grade transition foam, steel coils, and strong and sturdy base foam.
- Helix Dynamic Foam: High-quality memory foam layer made of a latex-foam hybrid alternative. Designed to provide comfort, firmness, and pressure relief. This layer has a density of about 45 PCF.
- High-Grade Polyfoam Transition Layer: Mainly provides support and It has a perfect thickness for loft and body elevation. Higher IFD to offer more support and lift.
- Wrapped Coil Layer: This layer uses multiple steel coils which give improved bounce and reinforced edge Body contouring is provided mainly by this layer.
- Durable Base Layer: Thickest layer with a sturdy hard surface. Durable as well a sturdy. It provides elevation and support. Cannot be felt easily through the top layers.
Casper Mattress
- Open Cell Memory Foam: The top layer is mainly focused on providing exceptional breathability and softness. It is not too dedicated to maintaining the right firmness but certainly does support ventilation.
- High-Density Memory Foam: Has a higher density than the rest of the mattress to elaborate on the firmness. The medium firm layer which is excellent at both isolating motion and providing definitely shape and continues.
- Zoned Transition Foam: This foam layer has been zoned, which means that the foam is softer under the shoulders and harder under the hip. It makes it ten times more customized and suited for any user.

Cover
For any mattress, a good cover means no bedsheets, and for people on a tight budget, this can be heaven on earth. What's the point of a mattress's cover if you're not going to use it?
The Helix uses a simple two-layer cotton blend for its cover. The cover is stretchable and entirely safe for use.
Casper also uses a similar cover, though the exact material is unknown. However, it does do loads in providing breathability and air regulation.
Both covers are adept at keeping the user cool and discomfort-free. Both have been sprayed with basic antifungal and antimicrobials to keep your mattress safe and make it last longer. However, we feel that the Casper mattress is a bit more stretchable than the Helix’s.
Firmness, Comfort, and Support
Providing the right firmness level is a great achievement for any mattress. Most mattresses nowadays are Medium Firm, save for some special ones which can be either soft or extra hard.
Helix Mattress
The Helix Mattress has a very spectral firmness rating. It is because the Helix isn’t just one mattress but a whole range of 9 different specialized and general mattresses, each one with its firmness rating, tailor-made for every other kind of sleepers.
Most of the best Helix mattresses have a firmness rating of close to 6.5, which is the optimal firmness for the typical user. This firmness is mainly provided by the High-Grade Polyfoam and the Coiled Layer. The polyfoam gives that familiar memory foam firmness, whereas the wrapped coils provide a new type of support that the user may not have experienced before.
A few specialized but admittedly expensive versions of the Helix can be as soft as 3.0 and as hard as 9.0.
Casper Mattress
The Casper Mattress is fixed at a firmness rating of 5.0. This number is the absolute premium, although many users prefer their mattress to be slightly harder, as much as 6 or 6.5.
In the Casper, the firmness is provided by all the memory foam layers. The base is 7 inches or more, which is a great height for any base layer. However, the firmness of the support core cannot be felt from the top, which leaves us to conclude that the Zoned and High-Density Foams cause the medium firmness. Overall, the entire mattress is bouncy and easy to sink into.

Wrap Up
Whether it's for a soft mattress or a hard one, you can count on the Casper and Helix to be the conclusion of your shopping spree. While we found that both of them do have their respective drawbacks (bad customer service, uneven firmness, refurbished goods, etc.), we found that the benefits are twice as vast as the cons.
With that being said, both of them are dissimilar in many ways. For example, if the Helix has better edge support, then the Casper displays excellent support for back sleepers. If one of the brands falters in one area, it also makes up for it in the hundreds of benefits it provides.
If this doesn't make for a decent lovable mattress, then we don't know what does. We would love to pick out a favorite from the two, but honestly? We can't. Both the Helix and the Casper have some of the most spectacular features we have ever seen.
