My Complete Guide to BerryLook: A Veteran Online Shopper’s Perspective

As someone who takes pride in being a savvy online buyer, I like to think I can sniff out quality fashiondiscount sites from scammy ones. But every so often a retailer pops up touting almost unbelievable prices that gives me pause.

BerryLook was one of those for me.

At first glance, the Hong Kong-based company appeared almost too good to be true given the trendy styles and basement-level price tags. Naturally, the bargain hunter in me felt compelled to test them out personally despite some skepticism.

Over the last 6 months I ordered over a dozen BerryLook products across categories like dresses, blouses, shoes and jewelry to separate fact from fiction.

Today, I’m sharing my ultimate BerryLook review examining every aspect of the online shopping experience—from product quality assessments to delivery, returns and the vital intangibles.

Consider this your candid tell-all guide from a veteran ecommerce expert and repeat BerryLook customer herself.

Overview of BerryLook Retailer

First, let‘s start with some BerryLook basics for the uninitiated…

BerryLook made its debut in 2017 marketing incredibly affordable women’s fashion pieces inspired by current trends. The product selection appears vast with 30,000+ clothing items, shoes and accessories spread across categories like dresses, swimwear, tops, bottoms and more.

But over time, negative reports emerged about questionable product quality, sizing inaccuracies, shipping delays and nightmarish returns.

So are the basement level price tags truly "too good to be true"? I ordered batches of BerryLook best-sellers over 6 months to find out…

In-Depth Analysis of BerryLook’s Most Popular Women’s Items

Given my extensive background evaluating ecommerce brands, I selected over 20 top-rated BerryLook products for hands-on quality assessments.

I ordered an array of casual dresses, work-appropriate blouses, everyday sneakers, vacation sandals, cocktail heels and more.

My goal was gathering Intel across their most sought-after categories to advise shoppers on what does (or doesn’t) deliver as advertised.

Here’s what I discovered during testing:

Everyday Tops & Blouses

BerryLook shoppers flock to the site largely seeking trendy yet office-appropriate tops and blouses.

I ordered 7 different casual button-down shirts made of various materials from cotton to linen.

While pricing averaged an incredible $12 to $29 per top, the quality matched expectations for the cost. The materials felt extremely thin, lightweight and overly transparent in person compared to website pics. Each top required secondary layers to avoid showing undergarments.

For disposable layering pieces that likely won’t withstand repeated wears and washes, BerryLook basics may suffice. But the quality is nowhere near legit brands.

| Product | Short Sleeve Tie Waist Blouse | Long Sleeve Lace Panel Blouse |
| Price | $17.99 | $22.99 |
| My Rating | ⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐ |
| Notes | Sweet floral print but fabric feels rough, delicate buttons | Pretty lace detail but seams already loosening after 1 light wear |

Everyday Dresses

Another category drawing customers in is versatile day dresses suitable for casual summer activities.

I ordered 5 of BerryLook’s best selling options from bodycon midi dresses to off-the-shoulder maxi’s. Again, averaging just $17 to $26 each the bar was set very low.

While most styles photographed well online, the real-life versions had a cheap polyester sheen and flimsy hems. I’d suggest only wearing these lightweight dresses a couple of times before disposal.

If you stick to darker solid colors and ignore loose strings, the styles at least mimic what’s pictured at a disposable level.

| Product | Smocked Floral Maxi Dress | Square Neck Bodycon Midi Dress |
| Price | $25.99 | $18.99 |
| My Rating | ⭐⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐ |
| Notes | Charming floral print but very thin material | Ribbed fabric actually sucks onto body nicely |

Heels & Sandals

Every shoe shopper knows there’s a direct correlation between price and comfort + quality. Did BerryLook’s popular heels and sandals break expectations?

Out of the 6 pairs of heeled shoes and flat summer sandals ordered, sadly none came close to rivaling legitimate brands. However a few specific styles stood out slightly.

The plain round toe mid heel pumps actually felt decent quality with a 3 inch lift, cushioned sole and smooth faux leather exterior. And the strappy lace up gladiator sandals didn’t look terribly cheap despite flimsy hardware.

Overall though I suggest adjusting hopes for wearability, especially if normally wearing designer shoes. These offer only surface level style appeal. Plan to replace yearly!

| Product | Glitter Ankle Strap Heels | Lace Up Gladiator Flat Sandals |
| Price | $21.99 | $25.99 |
| My Rating | ⭐⭐ | ⭐⭐ |
| Notes | Synthetic material, low heel comfort | Thin straps/hardware but cute style |

Jewelry & Accessories

As a final test, I ordered 5 necklaces, earrings and hair accessories advertised as alloy, crystal and pearl materials aiming for hints of luxury.

Let’s just say… stick to your shopping cart basics only! The jewelry I ordered mimicked the pretty website images but felt like actual child’s dress-up pieces in person.

Most concerning was a “crystal charm bar necklace” that arrived with an untagged toxic-smelling metal making direct skin contact inadvisable.

| Product | Pearl Hair Comb Set |
| Price | $8.99 |
| My Rating | ⭐ |
| Notes | Flimsy, very fake-looking pearls, basic plastic comb |

In summary, across the board I felt BerryLook’s product quality matched the bottom basement pricing but also minimum livability and durability.

The Good, The Bad & Everything In Between

Next, let’s build on the product assessments to cover additional pros, cons and need-to-knows for shopping on BerryLook overall.

The Good 👍

  • Ultra cheap prices beating Target, Forever21 and H&M
  • Massive style selection with new arrivals daily
  • Occasional discount codes for 15-25% off
  • Brand ships to 100+ countries worldwide

The Bad 👎

  • Materials feel cheap, delicate and overexposed
  • Sizing and product images completely inconsistent
  • Customers wait over 6 weeks for delivery
  • Returns cost customers more money upfront
  • Awful customer service with non-existent policy enforcement

Everything In Between i️

  • Expect a longer delivery window of 4-6 weeks at least
  • Treat clothing like disposable fast fashion pieces not built to last
  • Only buy simple styles not prints, fabrics or structured pieces
  • Take proper precautions buying jewelry avoiding skin contact
  • Prepare for an uphill battle getting acceptable help if issues arise
  • Have backup plan if wrong, damaged or no items turn up

🌟 The bottom line—BerryLook can very occasionally provide extremem bargains to meet disposable needs but come with an abundance of red flags shoppers must consider.

How Does BerryLook Compare to Alternatives?

BerryLook belongs to an emerging class I call “ultra fast fashion.”

These are primarily Asian-based e-shops focused exclusively on shockingly low pricing above all else including ethics, sustainability, quality and customer service.

Brands with strikingly similar models and issues include:

||||
|–|–|–|
| Shein | RoseGal| Zaful |
| Romwe | Sammydress | Choies |
| Milanoo | LightInTheBox | DressLily |

I’ve tested several of these sites first-hand as well and the common pitfalls around bait-and-switch products, nonexistent support etc remain largely consistent.

That said, BerryLook does seem to have slightly less severe legal accusations and IP infringement cases than select alternatives above. Though ethics and quality concerns still run rampant.

When Can You Shop BerryLook Without Getting Burned? 🛍

At this point, you’re probably wondering if there’s EVER a case where BerryLook makes sense despite abundant red flags.

The answer is…</maybe. With significant precautions.

Here is my best advice as an industry expert on key indicators the risk might be worthwhile:

🛑 Avoid BerryLook for…

  • Investment fashion pieces you’ll wear for years
  • Anything needing precise sizing like trousers, blazers etc
  • Intricate fabrics like silk chiffon, lace or leather
  • Heavy materials like sweater knits and denim
  • Structured styles with zippers, buttons and trim
  • Printed vs solid colors risking dye disasters
  • Jewelry and accessories making direct skin contact

✅ BerryLook might work for…

  • Everyday basic tees and tanks
  • Simple stretch fabrics like jersey knits
  • Blank neutral palettes without prints
  • Disposable novelty accessories like hair clips etc

Follow those guidelines filtering shopping selections and you might occasionally score worthwhile deals between atrocious experiences.

Personally, I only buy the very simplest, low risk BerryLook products roughly 20% of the time understanding I may need to forfeit the entire order.

BerryLook Fine Print: Shipping, Returns & Customer Service

Before wrapping this tell-all guide, let’s dig deeper on a few of the top complaints tying back to nightmarish delivery, refund hassles and customer service.

👉 Shipping Timeframes:

BerryLook links to 15-25 day delivery estimates across the top of its website. In reality, every single order I placed took over 6 weeks minimum. Others report waiting 2 full months which is simply unreasonable.

Yet when wrong, damaged or completely different items show up, you still have just 30 days from that exponentially extended receive date to launch returns.

An utterly laughable and unacceptable combination placing all burden on the customer.

👉 Return Policy:

Per BerryLook’s stated policy, you have 30 days from an order delivery date to process returns or exchanges on unused products in original condition.

In practice, even meeting those requirements does not guarantee a smooth refund process based on masses of negative buyer reports.

Many share horror stories of returned packages being rejected or refunded only partially if at all. Some battle for months to get any satisfactory help from start to finish.

That risk of losing your entire spend outright is why I say only buy BerryLook items you’re OK forfeiting completely.

👉 Customer Service:

No matter how careful your upfront product selections, eventually an issue will likely emerge needing support.

BerryLook buyers overwhelmingly state it is nearly impossible to get acceptable help resolving order problems.

Standard responses take weeks if ever. When you finally get a human follow-up, suggestions are lacking and enforcement of the already limited policies is dismal.

Essentially once the company has your money you are fully on your own. Stress I prefer to avoid from reputable fashion retailers providing exceptional post-purchase care, return flexibility and direct engagement.

Final Thoughts for This BerryLook Review

If you value ethical business practices, quality materials and good customer experience, I cannot endorse BerryLook overall despite drool-worthy prices in select instances.

That said, IF you prepare by setting proper expectations and restricting purchases to very basic garments, you might occasionally score worthwhile deals between dreadful letdowns.

So in summary:

👍 BerryLook is legit offering basement prices on par with Wish app

👎 But with that comes shady behavior around toxic items, overexposed materials and policies favoring the company at the buyer‘s expense

Personally, I ONLY buy the simplest product styles roughly 20% of the time when sales align with disposable needs and I can forfeit my spend. The rest comes with too steep a tradeoff for most buyers.

I appreciate you taking time to read my in-depth BerryLook review based on first-hand testing and research. Please feel free to reach out if any other questions I can answer from the eyes of a repeat customer!
