Dominating Remnant 2‘s Wastelands: My Top 10 Weapons Ranked

As a professional gamer and content creator, I‘ve sunk over 1000 hours perfecting my playstyle in Remnant 2. And in the process, I‘ve intimately familiarized myself with every gun, blade, and explosive device in its impressive post-apocalyptic arsenal.

But not all weapons are created equal. Through extensive first-hand testing, I‘ve separated the awesome from the awful. These are my picks for Remnant 2‘s top 10 most dominant weapons, ranked and ready to deliver you from the jaws of death.

#10: Submachine Gun – XRK Thunderbolt

Before we get to the heavy artillery, let‘s start with an understated little bullet hose that saved my hide more times than I can count. The XRK Thunderbolt submachine gun lacks punch, but its blistering fire rate cuts enemies to shreds at close range.

I typically pair the Thunderbolt with a slow-firing heavy hitter for some versatility. It‘s fantastic for weak point farming to stock up on much-needed crafting materials from basic enemies. When things get too hot, quickly backing up while unloading on mobs works wonders.

Key Traits:

  • Extreme 1200 RPM fire rate
  • Large 50 round magazine
  • Decent handling and reload speed

#9 Explosive Shotgun – Boomstick

Few things announce your presence quite like the aptly named Boomstick shotgun. It leaves enemies as a fine red mist with its incendiary explosive shot. Up close, even a single pull of the trigger spells certain doom for whatever stands in your way.

I once one-shot an elite enemy during a intense boss fight thanks to a well-placed explosive blast as he charged me. The splatter was immensely satisfying! This over-powered beast chews through ammo quickly, so make every fiery blast count.

Key Traits:

  • Huge explosive damage
  • Small 5 round capacity
  • Slow fire and reload speed

#8: The Jackhammer – Brutal Melee

When the fighting gets up close and dirty, nothing beats smashing skulls with the jackhammer…both literally and figurtively! The Jackhammer melee weapon delivers crushing blows which stagger enemies, allowing you to combo them to pieces.

Despite slower speed than other melee options, the jackhammer makes up for it with sheer stopping power. One multiplayer match I managed to go on a 12-kill streak by camping a hallway and letting the zombies funnel through to their jackhammer-fueled demise. It was an endless zombie pancake production line!

Key Traits:

  • Massive damage
  • Slow speed but long reach
  • Easy to use charge attack

#7: The Hunting Pistol – Reliable Sidearm

The Hunting Pistol lacks flair, but this sturdy semi-auto handgun has your back when your primary runs dry. It delivers solid and reliable damage at close to mid-range — perfect for a sidearm.

After testing different pistol options extensively, I relied on the Hunting Pistol to bail me out of many sticky situations. Its large magazine and abundant ammo availability makes it ideal for those "Oh crap!" moments when your main gun goes click. Certainly not flashy, but gets the job done!

Key Traits:

  • Accurate at range
  • 10 round capacity
  • Decent ammo availability

#6: Beam Rifle – Face Melter Sniper

I‘ll never forget the first time I turned an enemy into plasma with the Beam Rifle. This unique sniper focuses energy blasts into continuous laser damage that absolutely melts targets. It‘s woefully slow firing and skillful aiming is a must. But once mastered, nothing deals destruction quite as satisfyingly as this iconic sniper rifle.

The beam effect chains between closely grouped enemies, allowing you to rake entire mobs with one well-placed shot. I once chained a single beam through an entire swarm of bombers, setting off explosions left and right! It was gloriously chaotic beam-fueled carnage at its finest.

Key Traits

  • Unique hitscan laser beam
  • Chains to multiple targets
  • Very slow ROF but huge damage

Top 5 Most Dominant Weapons

The arms we‘ve covered already can serve you well. But once you get your hands on these top 5 weapons, you‘ll never let go! Here are my undisputed cream of the crop when it comes to dealing death efficiently in Remnant 2.

#5: Particle Accelerator – Exotic Heavy Artillery

At first glance, the cobbled together Particle Accelerator looks completely impractical. But once charged up this complex energy cannon brings a different breed of pain! Each blast explodes on impact for huge area damage. The accelerator then further amps damage by spraying enemies with radiation.

Wading out into a group of elites and letting loose with a proton blast felt incredibly badass! Then picking off the stragglers easily with bonus radiation ticks was just the cherry on top. Despite longer charge up and limited ammo, no other heavy weapon makes wiping out rooms so deeply satisfying.

Particle Accelerator laying waste
Particle Accelerator carnage always brings a smile to my face

Key Traits:

  • Huge AOE explosive damage on impact
  • Lingering radiation damage field
  • Slow charge but extremely potent

#4: Submachine Gun – Eye of the Storm

I consider the Eye of the Storm one of Remnant 2‘s most well-rounded weapons. Its balanced stats make it versatile enough to shine in nearly any firefight. A generously large magazine lets you spew storms of lead downrange unfettered. Tight accuracy keeps things under control even during furious automatic fire.

The Eye of the Storm served me well from early to endgame. Even as my arsenal expanded, its reliable spray of suppressive fire remained a comfortable old friend. I highly recommend this custom SMG to anchor any build throughout an entire campaign.

Key Traits:

  • All-around balanced stats
  • Large 70 round magazine
  • Extremely ammo efficient

#3: Devastator Pistol – Compact Hammer of the Gods

Let‘s get straight to the point. The Devastator packs ridiculous damage output into pistol form. Each shot from this scaled down cannon hits with uncanny force, blasting limbs off or crunching weaker enemies outright with a sickening splat.

Despite its six shot cylinder and short range, I relied heavily on the Devastator in a pinch. Quick swapping to it in close quarters almost guarantees killing power even when ambushed unexpectedly. It may chew through ammo quickly, but makes every round count!

Key Traits:

  • Massive damage in compact size
  • Slow ROF, small capacity
  • Extremely potent up close

#2: Automatic Shotgun – Claw

Of all the shotguns I tested, none came close the sheer face-shredding power of the Claw auto shotgun. At point blank range, its blistering fully automatic barrage literally evaporated enemies in seconds. The ripping sound as flesh came apart at the seams drove fear into the hearts of men…and whatever passed for hearts in Remnant 2‘s horrors!

Ammo evaporated quickly under full auto fire, demanding careful control of the trigger. But once mastered, nothing dishes sheer damage faster than this gruesome Gatling gun of a shotgun. Many named this feisty beast "The Widowmaker"…and for good reason!

Key Traits:

  • Full auto destruction
  • Ammo hungry
  • Requires extreme close range

#1: Submachine Gun – Stringliner

And now, the pièce de résistance — my undisputed favorite weapon that carried me to victory on the hardest difficulties. Once found, the Stringliner rarely left my hands except to reload. This elite bullet hose spits hot lead across huge swaths of enemies. Generous magazines let me suppress entire mobs until my thumbs went sore!

The Stringliner perfectly balances power, handling and versatility. Decent range with tight accuracy keeps things under control even during long bursts. While best suited to medium range, its flexibility still shreds up close or reaches out to harass at a distance.

Whether facing mobs of cannon fodder or circle strafing elite enemies, no tool dropped death faster than my beloved Stringliner. From firing the first shot until the credits rolled, it certainly lived up to its name as the "String of Death"!

Key Traits

  • Elite balance of power and handling
  • Large 100 round dual drum mags
  • Default choice from early to end game

And with that, you now have my highly refined list of Remnant 2‘s most ruthlessly efficient tools of destruction! Let me know which weapon ended up being your personal favorite harbinger of carnage. Happy hunting out there in those twisted wastelands!
