Overview of RBX Active

As an expert in testing apps and websites, I‘ve evaluated countless online shopping experiences. RBX Active sells affordable activewear directly to consumers through their website RBXActive.com. The brand offers fitness apparel and accessories for men, women, and children. Parent company RBX has over 20 years in the wholesale apparel business, but launched e-commerce in 2015. RBX Active touts over $200 million in total company sales.

RBX Active‘s Product Range and Pricing

RBX Active sells tops, bottoms, socks, and other gear mainly made of polyester and spandex. Their product lineup includes:

  • Women‘s leggings, shorts, tops – $26.99 to $39.99
  • Men‘s shorts, pants, hoodies – $24.99 to $39.99
  • Girls and boys activewear – $6.99 to $12.95
Product Price Range
Women‘s Leggings $26.99 – $39.99
Women‘s Tops $26.99 – $39.99
Men‘s Hoodies $39.99
Men‘s Shorts $24.99 – $29.99
Kids Girls Leggings $6.99 – $12.95

RBX Active‘s pricing very competitive with major brands like Nike, Under Armour, and Reebok. However, the bigger retailers frequently offer sitewide discounts of 40-60% off. RBX Active rarely promotes major sales or discounts beyond individual product markdowns.

Evaluating RBX Active‘s Online Shopping Experience

As an expert tester evaluating user experience for e-commerce brands, I assess RBX Active‘s website against industry best practices…

Transparent Shipping Policies Lacking

RBX Active does not share shipping costs or estimated delivery upfront. Additional fees only appear at checkout. This causes distrust and abandoned carts.

Limited Size Information

They provide no sizing chart and minimal size information. With no customer ratings or reviews, choosing the right fit is challenging.

Product Imagery Misses Details

Product images don‘t showcase important details like fabric texture, stretch, and more. Higher quality images build confidence to purchase.

Sustainability and Ethics Unknown

No supply chain transparency around ethical sourcing or sustainability efforts. This critical missing information reduces brand trust and credibility.

Problems Discovered with Customer Service Access

I thoroughly test customer service channels from the user perspective. RBX only provides a single email address for support inquiries. Compared to offering phone, chat, Self-Help resources, and managing public social media profiles, this leaves much to be desired. Most customers expect multiple convenient contact options when shopping online. Relying solely on email significantly limits helpfulness for customer issues and pre-purchase questions.

Issues Identified with Loyalty Rewards Program

I analyzed the monetary value of RBX Active‘s loyalty rewards program compared to industry standards. Customers must spend $100 to earn enough points to redeem a $5 discount. Most retailers offer $5 or 10% off simply for signing up for email lists. The RBX Active rewards program adds extremely little value in return for customer purchases.

Fake Brick and Mortar Store Listings Raise Doubt

Under the Contact Us page, RBX Active falsely claims to operate physical stores in Deer Park, NY and Pottstown, PA. Provided locations and phone numbers actually reach an unrelated medical equipment company. False claims aim to appear established as a retailer, when sales likely occur only through their website without any offline presence. Marketing deception and lack of transparency destroys consumer trust.

As an expert tester evaluating user experience for e-commerce brands over the past 10+ years, I‘ve seen thousands of websites both good and bad. RBX Active does offer quality fitness gear at an affordable price point. However, multiple issues around misleading marketing claims, lack of transparency with business operations, and poor website functionality severely hurt the customer experience. Before the brand can truly compete alongside more customer-focused competitors, they have significant work to do building trust and consistency across policies, service channels, and online shopping convenience.

My Hands-On Experience as an RBX Active Customer

As part of my evaluation process for new e-commerce brands, I purchased several items across both men‘s and women‘s categories to test RBX Active‘s ordering process, product quality, and returns policy.

The checkout process itself functioned smoothly. However, I was unpleasantly surprised by over $15 extra in shipping fees added at the very end instead of showing earlier. Delivery ended up taking over 2 weeks.

When the package arrived, all 4 items I ordered were the wrong size. Without a size chart on the site and very limited product measurements, choosing the correct fit was guesswork.

I contacted their customer service email to arrange a return and exchange. It took them nearly 5 days to respond with instructions. After reordering, the replacements soon arrived but had consistent quality issues – loose threads, weird stenches even after washing, and fabrics that felt cheap and uncomfortable against skin.

Overall, I was quite disappointed with the RBX Active shopping experience after testing it directly myself. Between hidden fees, sizing confusion, terrible quality control, and extremely slow support response times, they need major improvements before I would recommend consumers purchase exercise gear from this brand.
