12 Best Ahrefs Alternatives (2024 Pros & Cons)

Top 12 Best Ahrefs Alternatives and Competitors for 2024

Are you looking for an alternative to Ahrefs for your SEO software needs in 2024? While Ahrefs is one of the most popular and feature-rich SEO platforms on the market, it‘s not necessarily the best fit for everyone.

Whether you‘re put off by Ahrefs‘ high price point, find the user interface unintuitive, or simply want to explore what other options are out there – you‘ve come to the right place. In this post, I‘ll be sharing what I believe are the top 12 Ahrefs alternatives and competitors worth considering this year.

But first, what exactly is Ahrefs? In case you‘re not familiar, Ahrefs is an all-in-one SEO toolset that helps you optimize your website and content to rank higher in search engines. It provides a wide range of features including:

  • Site explorer for analyzing the organic search traffic and backlink profile of any website
  • Keywords explorer for discovering new keyword ideas and analyzing ranking difficulty
  • Site audit for finding and fixing technical SEO issues on your site
  • Rank tracker for monitoring your Google rankings over time
  • Content explorer for finding the most popular content for any topic

Now let‘s look at some of the best Ahrefs alternatives that provide similar functionality, starting with its biggest rival – Semrush.

  1. Semrush
Semrush is arguably the most direct Ahrefs alternative and competitor. Like Ahrefs, it aims to be a comprehensive platform for all things SEO and digital marketing.

In fact, the two tools have a very similar set of features. With Semrush, you get:

  • Domain overview for researching any website‘s organic traffic, keywords, and backlinks
  • Keyword overview for getting search volume, difficulty, CPC and other metrics
  • Site audit for improving your on-page and technical SEO health
  • Position tracking for monitoring target keyword rankings
  • Backlink analytics for analyzing any site‘s backlink profile

And much more. The main advantages of Semrush are that 1) it provides extra tools beyond just SEO like social media and content marketing, 2) the user interface is a bit cleaner and easier to navigate than Ahrefs, in my opinion.

However, Semrush‘s pricing is in the same ballpark as Ahrefs, with plans starting at $119.95/month. So it may not be the best choice if your main reason for seeking an alternative is to save money.

  1. SE Ranking
If budget is a concern, take a look at SE Ranking. This up-and-coming platform provides most of the same core SEO features as Ahrefs and Semrush, but at a much lower price point. Plans start at just $39/month.

SE Ranking‘s standout feature is its keyword rank tracker, which I‘ve found to be just as fast and accurate as Ahrefs‘ tracker. It also provides useful metrics like keyword search volume and competition level.

Other key tools include a website audit checker for on-page SEO, keyword suggestion tool, backlink checker and more. The main disadvantage of SE Ranking compared to Ahrefs is that the overall feature set and data are not quite as extensive or deep. But it‘s an excellent value for the price.

  1. Mangools
Mangools is my top pick for beginners looking for an easy-to-use and affordable Ahrefs alternative. While it may not be as powerful as Ahrefs, the streamlined interface and simple, focused tools make it much less overwhelming.

With Mangools, you get 5 main tools:

  • KWFinder for keyword research
  • SERPChecker for analyzing the top ranking pages for a keyword
  • SERPWatcher for rank tracking
  • LinkMiner for backlink analysis
  • SiteProfiler for all-in-one SEO metrics of any site

Pricing starts at just $29.90/month, making Mangools one of the most affordable options on this list. However, some advanced features and data are lacking compared to Ahrefs.

  1. Serpstat
Serpstat is an increasingly popular Ahrefs alternative that offers excellent value. It includes over 30 tools to help with all aspects of SEO.

Highlights include the keyword research tool for finding low-competition keywords, rank tracker, backlink analysis, site audit, and competitive research.

I‘ve found Serpstat‘s database and metrics to be nearly on par with Ahrefs. The main downside is that the user experience isn‘t quite as polished or intuitive. But you get a generous amount of features and data for the price, with plans starting at $55/month.

  1. Majestic
Majestic is a link intelligence tool that specializes in backlink analysis. So it‘s a great Ahrefs alternative if your main use for Ahrefs is its Site Explorer and Link Intersect features.

Where Majestic really shines is the size of its backlink database – it currently has over 7 trillion URLs in its index. This allows you to get the most comprehensive look at any website‘s link profile.

Other unique features include detailed breakdowns of a site‘s backlinks by category, such as governmental, educational, or editorial links. And the ability to analyze the context in which links appear on a page.

On the downside, Majestic lacks a lot of Ahrefs‘ other SEO features like rank tracking and site auditing. And it‘s one of the pricier standalone backlink checkers at $49.99/month for the Lite plan.

  1. Morningscore
Morningscore is a newer Ahrefs competitor that aims to make SEO easier and more intuitive. It has a very clean, visual interface that clearly lays out a website‘s key SEO metrics on the dashboard.

But what I love most about Morningscore is its unique "missions" feature. This analyzes your site‘s SEO and outlines specific tasks for you to focus on to get more organic traffic. You can see the exact steps to take and even assign them to team members.

Other core tools include keyword research, backlink monitoring, site auditing, and rank tracking. The main thing Morningscore lacks is the depth of data you get from Ahrefs‘ massive databases.

Pricing is a bit more affordable than Ahrefs, starting at $75/month. There is a limited free plan available as well.

  1. WebCEO
WebCEO is a comprehensive SEO platform that caters primarily to marketing agencies. It includes a full suite of tools for keyword research, technical SEO auditing, backlink analysis, rank tracking and reporting.

The biggest selling point of WebCEO for agencies is its client acquisition and management features. You can generate branded PDF reports, create a white label version of the tool, and even embed a live SEO audit on your website to attract new leads.

While WebCEO‘s feature set is extensive, I‘ve found that the quality and quantity of data is a step below Ahrefs and Semrush. But the pricing is very competitive, with plans starting at $33/month. There are also enterprise options for large agencies.

  1. ContentStudio
ContentStudio is a unique Ahrefs alternative that focuses primarily on content marketing and social media analysis. While it doesn‘t aim to replicate all of Ahrefs‘ SEO tools, it does have some similar content research features.

With the Discover module, you can enter any keyword or topic and find the most shared content across all major social media, news, and blog platforms. It‘s similar to Ahrefs‘ Content Explorer but with added insights into social engagement metrics.

ContentStudio also provides publishing, analytics, and collaboration tools to help execute and measure your content strategy. It integrates with WordPress so you can plan, schedule, and publish articles from within the platform.

Pricing starts at $49/month, making it an affordable option for content-focused marketers. The main drawback is that it lacks other key SEO tools like rank tracking and link building.

  1. AccuRanker
AccuRanker is a powerful rank tracking tool that makes a great alternative to Ahrefs Rank Tracker. In fact, I‘ve found AccuRanker to be more accurate and have the fastest updates.

It tracks your Google rankings at the zip-code level and refreshes the data daily. You can also see other useful metrics like search volume, estimated traffic, and competitor rankings for each keyword.

Another helpful feature is AccuRanker‘s intelligent SERP analysis, which breaks down the different ranking types on the page (local pack, images, videos, etc). This gives you insight into the competitiveness and opportunities for each term.

AccuRanker isn‘t a complete Ahrefs alternative, as it focuses only on rank tracking. But if that‘s a key feature for you, it‘s worth considering. Plans start at $109/month for 1,000 keywords.

  1. Moz Pro
Moz Pro is another leading SEO software suite and Ahrefs competitor. Like Ahrefs, it includes tools for keyword research, link building, site audits, and rank tracking.

One thing I like about Moz is MozBar, a free Chrome extension that overlays SEO metrics while you browse any page or SERP. Metrics include Page Authority, Domain Authority, linking root domains, and more.

Moz also provides excellent resources and thought leadership to help you learn SEO. Their blog and whiteboard Friday videos are some of the best in the industry.

The main downside of Moz is that some of the SEO data and recommendations are not as accurate, comprehensive, or fresh as Ahrefs in my testing. And it‘s still relatively pricey, with plans starting at $99/month (when not on sale).

  1. Ubersuggest
Ubersuggest is a freemium SEO tool created by well-known entrepreneur Neil Patel. It aims to provide many essential SEO features at a much more affordable price point than Ahrefs.

With the free plan, you can perform up to 3 daily searches for domain overview, keyword ideas, top SEO pages, and backlink data. This makes it useful for casual or beginner bloggers and marketers.

Paid plans start at $29/month and offer more searches per day as well as additional features like rank tracking, site audit, and content ideas. While the data is not as complete as Ahrefs, it provides a decent all-in-one SEO toolkit on a budget.

The main reason to choose Ubersuggest over Ahrefs or other premium tools is cost savings. Just be aware that you may outgrow its limited data and capabilities as your needs become more advanced.

  1. SEO PowerSuite
SEO PowerSuite is a unique option on this list because it is a downloadable desktop software rather than a web app. This one-time purchase model may appeal to some who prefer to avoid recurring subscriptions.

The toolkit includes 4 main tools: Rank Tracker, WebSite Auditor, SEO SpyGlass, and LinkAssistant. Together, they cover most of the same functions as Ahrefs.

Some advantages of SEO PowerSuite are the unlimited site crawling, keywords, and backlink data (since it runs on your own machine). It also stores historical data indefinitely, while Ahrefs resets or purges data after a certain period.

On the flipside, the tradeoff is a steeper learning curve, clunkier interface, and less frequent feature updates compared to web-based tools. There are also fewer integration options and collaboration features.

Pricing starts at $299/year for the Professional edition. While not cheap, this could be cost-effective for power users. Free and Enterprise editions are also available.

Wrapping Up
As you can see, there is no shortage of Ahrefs alternatives on the market for every need and budget. Whether you‘re a beginner looking for a simplified tool or an advanced user seeking powerful features and data, there‘s an option for you.

Before committing to any tool, be sure to take advantage of free trials (offered by most on this list) to test the interface and see if it meets your needs. Also check what‘s included in each plan tier, as some put limitations on keyword tracking, crawling, users, and more.

Ultimately, the "best" Ahrefs alternative depends on your specific use case and preferences. But you can‘t go wrong with proven solutions like Semrush for all-in-one marketing, SE Ranking for affordable SEO, or Majestic for deep link analysis.

The key is to continually track and measure your results to ensure you‘re getting positive ROI from the tool. Don‘t be afraid to switch platforms if you outgrow the data or features. With the right SEO toolkit and strategy, you‘ll be well on your way to higher rankings and traffic.
