Conquering Starfield‘s Sprawling Into the Unknown Quest

As a professional gamer and content creator with over 200 hours of playtime logged in Starfield, I‘ve painstakingly mapped out and mastered every corner of its massive open worlds across the Settled Systems. This includes tackling the sweeping multi-planet "Into the Unknown" early-game quest in an epic 10 hour playthrough.

And in this comprehensive walkthrough from my years as an experienced Constellation space explorer, I‘ll unveil all the hard-earned tips, secrets and insights you need to overcome Into the Unknown‘s dangerous threats spanning hostile alien moons and monster-filled ruins through to gravity-defying ancient temples.

Quest Overview: Mysteries of the Constellation Faction

Into the Unknown kicks off shortly after you wrap up Starfield‘s initial tutorials and seriously expands the scale and scope of exploration across space.

As new Constellation recruit, you‘re tasked by veteran member Vladimir Sall to recover two precious artifacts – Iota and Zeta – discarded long ago but tied to the faction‘s clouded origins.

This sprawling multi-leg journey sends you clear across the Settled Systems from the lawless Frontier fringe to the capital worlds of United Colonies space and beyond into uncharted Procyon.

And it could very well decide the future course of humanity‘s existence.

That‘s because Constellation operatives like yourself safeguard all interstellar civilization as its covert guardians according to the Borealis Confederacy‘s secret history.

So with ancient relics involved holding cryptic clues about your enigmatic benefactors, you better gear up and prepare for the long haul, newblood!

Finding Fellow Explorer Andreja

Let‘s first set the stage getting you paired up with capable company…

Your first task from Vladimir is linking up with Andreja, a Constellation pathfinder already narrowing down Iota‘s location when contact got lost.

Open up your Starfield starmap with [ key and chart a course to the Tau Ceti system on the Northern Frontier where Andreja was investigating strange energy spikes.

More specifically, you‘ll be touching down on Tau Ceti VIII-B – an airless, mountainous moon covered in abandoned 2nd era mines and riddled with smuggler hideouts.

After breeching atmo, I recommend landing near the Abandoned Mine Site fast travel point to skip battling low orbit raiders.

Disembark and make your way on foot to the deep cave entrance marked where Andreja awaits by a sputtering barrel fire for warmth.

Meet Andreja at the cave mouth on Tau Ceti VIII-B moon

This initial rendezvous point can actually be tricky to locate at first. One tip is using your Gellar Field skill to check for faint heat signatures leading the way.

Anyway, Andreja greets you gruffly here but soon joins up to tackle finding Iota together…

Braving Pirate Hordes to Secure Artifact Iota

With Andreja along for this ride, draw your weapons and head underground in search of that first prize.

Just be ready for intense room-to-room firefights because these caverns crawl with bloodthirsty Corsarios pirates wanting to claim Iota‘s value for themselves as black market loot.

I strongly advise packing the hardest-hitting guns in your arsenal plus mines/grenades to blanket chokepoints against massed Grouper and Lurker assaults.

My go-to loadout employs the ultra-high DPS Boltcaster AR backed up by a rapid-fire Suros "Sweeper" Shotgun plus splash damage Seeker G3 grenades to decimate the endless waves until reaching Iota‘s sealed alcove.

Utilize cover between stalagmites while the pesky Lurkers attempt flanking your position with cloaking tech – stay mobile and watch the motion tracker! Definitely invest in the Optical Camo Hunter skill to counter them.

Finally after battling through the non-stop ambushes along claustrophobic tunnels, you‘ll enter Iota‘s grotto filled with eerie azure Caelumite shards.

Recover the first artifact Iota on Tau Ceti VIII-B moon

Extract the relic from its dense mineral casing using a common laser cutter tool. Afterwards, Andreja opens up more on the Trappist dissidents she once fought as an elite Peacekeeper squad leader.

You‘ve secured the first prize, but Zeta still awaits on another planet overrun by her former comrades…

Surviving Ex-Commando Onslaught to Obtain Artifact Zeta

For this next grueling sortie anticipating even heavier resistance, I strongly advocate tagging the Constellation battle android SA-GAN or ultra-loyal soldier Vassa Stavros as backup.

We‘re headed to Piazzi IV-C marked on nav charts as a "restricted planetoid" which should already raise eyebrows! Brace yourself for Streamlined Mercs who Andreja discloses are radical Peacekeeper veterans she tangled with before.

These elite Epliptic Stormtroopers wield top grade Spitfire assault rifles and AMBI mech suits tough to crack unless targeting weak points with armor-piercing ammo, EMP blasts or the Gravity Field skill.

Push forward blasting and powerslashing through the orange-visor clad fanatics until you turn the last corner to behold the subterranean garage.

Scan the environment first with Focus Visor then use a Stealth Boy field to slip past the heavily guarded storage vaults.

Eventually you‘ll reach Zeta‘s containment cylinder patrolled by a hulking Phase Bruiser mini-boss. Hit this juggernaut with Shield Breaker missiles then finish it off with Fusion Core detonation before slicing out Zeta!

Having braved two intense multi-wave firefights back-to-back now, I recommend resting up at The Lodge before the next major leg.

Investigating the Anomaly on Procyon III

When you rendezvous again with Vladimir at The Eye station, he discloses chillng findings from the artifacts resonating with an unknown energy phenomenon logged near Procyon system.

This anomaly‘s classified signatures match elements of Constellation relics themselves – raising shocking implications!

Vladimir dispatches us to Procyon III where Observatory outposts recently went dark after detecting these same readings across the remote planet.

Upon landing at the prescribed coordinates where the Scanner Anomaly appeared, brace for lengthy overland navigation toward the disturbance source.

Equipping an Exo Frame with jump jets helps traversing Procyon III‘s rugged lavascape yet vast basalt plateaus still mean lengthy traversal.

I recommend bringing the explorer skill Robotic Expert for mining helpful node materials to sell later at the Rink.

Endure the lengthy, winding trek until your scanner pulses wildly, indicating the epicenter lies dead ahead somewhere!

Creeping ahead, you‘ll spot a towering black monolith structure dubbed "Temple Eta" by Constellation chroniclers. Breach inside via a chamber lock then delve further…

Approach the jet black ancient Temple Eta structure on Procyon III

The innards contain Zero G float chambers with strange properties that could unravel more secrets of your cabal‘s past!

Unlocking First Special Power in the Anti-Gravity Room

Temple Eta‘s central spherical chamber features an odd localized anti-gravity field allowing freeform floating through the room itself.

Glide around the open space and you‘ll notice clusters of small luminous particles clustered in sections. Pass directly through enough of these light atom manifestations to form an activation gate.

Approach the gate when fully assembled to unlock Constellation spacefarers‘ first innate special ability: Anti-Gravity Field generation!

This skill projects a spherical zone silencing gravity around your character. Small objects also get levitated while larger vessels can be slowly manipulated. It drains Psi-points when active however.

You can access Anti-Gravity Field under the Powers wheel section in your menu. It becomes crucial for reaching certain areas, moving heavy obstacles or even reflecting enemy projectiles!

Quest Completion and Rewards

Having finally unearthed decades-old Constellation secrets, present your bizarre gravity-defying skills back at the Lodge along with the precious artifacts recovered.

Vladimir beams with long-awaited vindication of his theories while even stoic Vassa cracks a grin. The crew gathers excitedly to discuss the epic ramifications of this reemerging cosmic force tied to Temple Eta‘s mystifying properties.

With Into the Unknown reached its end through grit, teamwork and no small amount of blasting across several planets, you‘ve earned some fitting spoils:

  • 9500 Credits payment
  • 2 Mills Weapon Amps
  • Full Star System Data Entries

Yet the true prize occurs continuing the overarching expedition to piece together Constellation‘s obscured past and role safeguarding mankind‘s future path…

This concludes my epic field guide to conquering Starfield‘s sweeping Into the Unknown main campaign quest! Let me know in the comments if you have any other questions arise taking on this 10+ hour early game rite of passage.
