Ready Mix Concrete Overview

Ready mix concrete will make your construction process easier. The RMC will be mixed in the right proportions to meet all your building needs while saving on costs and time.

Ready Mix Concrete is the custom-made one that is manufactured in a factory using the batching plant by considering all the required standards for the specific construction. The prepared concrete mix is then taken to the work site using the transit mixers on a truck.

Based on the type, throughout the whole journey, it remains mixed in the transit mixer. It is often a mix of cement, water, aggregates, sand, gravel, or crushed stone.

You can either opt to get it from a ready-mix concrete supplier or make it onsite. The ready mix concrete is sold in volume and supplied in an unhardened and plastic state to the worksite.

With site mixed concrete; water, sand, gravel, air, and cement are mixed in certain proportions to meet the right standards.

What Are The Advantages Of Ready Mix Concrete?

What are the advantages of ready mix concrete

If you are caught between whether getting ready mix concrete or onsite mix concrete. Here are some reasons why you should opt to contact a ready mix concrete supplier.

1. Reduce Time Usage And Cost

Construction can take you some time to finish. However, if you automate the processes and opt for ready mix concrete rather than doing it on-site, it can save you some time. Your workers can focus on something else while waiting for the ready mix concrete that will arrive in the right quantity and proportion.

You will also save on the cost that you would have used on working labor from your workers. Since the materials are mixed in the right amount, there is no wastage of materials, therefore, saving on some cash.

Additionally, you can request for the ready mix concrete when the need arises, therefore, you won't need any storage for the materials.

2. Environmentally Friendly

Most of the materials used by ready-mix concrete suppliers are found in the environment. Therefore, sourcing is much easier and has less impact on the environment. If some material remains, it can be reused or recycled in another construction.

Also, companies are often cautious of the kind of materials they use and the impact on the environment. Therefore, that shouldn’t be a worry.

3. Lower Maintenance Costs

The strength and durability of concrete are assurance that your constructed building will remain strong and resilient for long.

You just need to get the right proportion from the ready mix concrete supplier to ensure it will be enough for your whole construction. Your structures will be long-lasting and quality.

4. Versatility

The ready mix concrete is mixed in proportions suggested by the owner. Therefore, you can specify the mix capacity based on the usage.

You can say that you want to construct the foundation or a pond's foundation. Just be specific so that the right mix proportion is used.

5. High Standard Product

If you are looking for a high-quality product, then you better opt for ready-mix concrete. It is vital to balance the water-cement ratio and when that isn't adhered to; your concrete will be messed up.

Therefore, you can consult specialists to ensure your construction is flawless from the beginning. Also, the hardness of ready mix concrete increases over time, therefore it will be long-lived and reduce maintenance costs.

6. Fast Construction

When you get ready mix concrete, there won't be any need to wait or start purchasing the materials. It will be delivered immediately, and your workers can start the work without any delay.

Additionally, there is no zero waste of materials, unlike if you were making it onsite and some materials were left.

7. Reasonable Prices

Most ready mix concrete suppliers have reasonable prices, therefore, you are assured of not digging too deep into your pocket. You also get quality material with reduced dust pollution since it comes when ready.

Types of Ready Mixed Concrete

Types of Ready Mixed Concrete

There are three different types:

i. Shrink Mixed Concrete

Shrink-mixed concrete is often mixed to a certain capacity while in the manufacturer’s site. While in transit, it gets mixed for the proportion remaining from the pre-transit mix.

However, the ready-mix concrete suppliers are often exact on this to ensure no excessive or reduced mixing.

It will be perfect by the time it reaches the construction site. Therefore, mixing starts in the company and continues till the construction site.

ii. Transit Mixed Concrete

This method is also known as dry-batch concrete. In this type,  all the construction components are mixed in the transit truck. The truck's mixer rotates at different speeds to mix the ingredients appropriately. There are three forms:

a. Mixed on the construction site

While on transit, the ready mixed concrete revolves in the drum at a speed of 2 rotations per minute. However, upon arrival, before it is removed from the truck it will be mixed with about 80 revolutions at a speed of between 12-15 rpm. This is to make it smooth.

b. Mixed In Transit

The concrete is mixed during the whole transit period. This is at a speed of 8 rpm. There should be approximately 70 revolutions. Once that is achieved, the rotation slows down to a speed of 2 rpm till discharging to the construction site. Therefore, the mix will be perfect.

c. Mixed In The Yard

The final version is the concrete mixed in the yard. The mixing drum rotates at a speed of 12-15 rpm for about 50 revolutions.

iii. Central Mixed Concrete

This is also known as central batching plant concrete. Before it is loaded in the truck mixer, it is mixed thoroughly. During the transportation to the construction site, the mixing drum acts as a stirring machine.

Material Used In Ready Mixed Concrete

  • Cement
  • Water
  • Sand
  • Gravel
  • Crushed stones
  • Solid or liquid additives(admixtures)

Conclusion

If you wanted to construct strong, durable, and resilient buildings, you better contact the best ready mix concrete supplier. You will get your concrete in no time and start construction. This will save on time, cost, labor, maintenance, and low environmental risks.

Your workers can focus on other things, without necessarily worrying about the concrete to be made. Also, you are assured that the ready mix concrete has the right proportions of the materials, therefore, you won't worry about your building being weak or showing signs of weakness after a year.

You can choose the type of ready mix concrete you need and get it at the designated location without any issues.
