Final Fantasy 16: The Glaring Absence of a Fan Favorite Summon

As a gamer who has followed the Final Fantasy franchise for over a decade, I was shocked to find a beloved icon missing from the latest installment – Leviathan. This sea serpent summon who unfurls waves to overwhelm opponents has been a staple of FF lore. Yet there is no sign of this tide-turning beast in FF16.

What makes the absence more mystifying are the blatant hints scattered throughout promotional material teasing Leviathan‘s inclusion. Let‘s analyze these Easter eggs more closely and examine why one of the most iconic summons is mysteriously missing.

Easter Eggs Suggest Leviathan Would Appear

The Ambition Trailer clearly shows a large, serpent-like shape emerging from the ocean at the 4:06 mark. Pausing this scene reveals a creature strongly resembling Leviathan. As an expert gamer, I believe this was an intentional tease for fans.

Additionally, the collector‘s edition box art for FF16 prominently features Leviathan. This is an odd choice if such a beloved summon doesn‘t even appear in the game!

Digging through forums and fansites shows many other subtle references too – such as icons in the UI or backgrounds that seem to hint at Leviathan. All signs point to its inclusion, making the Eikon‘s absence stand out starkly.

Leviathan Is The ONLY Missing Eikon

As I played through the entirety of FF16, I kept waiting for a surprise Leviathan appearance. Yet after defeating the final boss, it became clear this summon is strangely missing from the whole game.

Out of the 8 powerful Eikons who you can summon into battle, Leviathan is the only one absent. All other fan favorites like Odin, Titan and more made appearances. Yet not even an optional side quest leads you to this master of the oceans.

No Word on DLC Appearance Either

In interviews, FF16‘s producer Yoshi-P gave a teardown of potential upcoming DLC plans. Unfortunately, it seems the team currently has no plans to release additional content.

This crushed many fans‘ hopes that Leviathan could show up in future DLC focusing on naval battles or ocean lore.

"We have no idea if people are going to fall in love with Valisthea and want to see more..." - Yoshi-P

Without concrete plans for DLC, questions around Leviathan‘s absence become even more glaring.

Fan Response Could Lead to an Epic Comeback

As a fellow entrepreneur, I know the importance of gauging fandom reception. While the team has no current DLC plans, they want to see fan response first before closing the door completely.

  • If FF16 proves widely popular and the mystery around Leviathan spurs discussion, I predict a high chance of additional content
  • This would be the perfect opportunity to reunite fans with Leviathan and expand ocean-based lore
  • Personally, I envision an incredibly nostalgic, epic summon scene where Leviathan emerges to turn the tides of a naval battle

The longing fans have shown for their favorite summon makes me believe the team won‘t leave our questions unanswered. As devotees of the Leviathan mystery, we must unite and show the world our passion! Our voices could hold the power to resurrect this fallen icon in all its glory.

Let‘s discuss our fondest memories of Leviathan in the comments. And to the developers – bring back our beloved sea serpent! No FF game feels complete without this summon raining destruction from the oceans.
