The Definitive FF16 Best Build Guide

As a long-time FF enthusiast and content creator focusing on FF16 strategies, I‘ve experimented extensively with different ability, weapon and accessory combinations. If you‘re struggling to decide how to build your characters, this definitive guide shares my secrets to creating an incredibly powerful late game build.

Based on extensive in-game testing and research, I break down the optimal FF16 loadout across four key areas:

Overpowered Eikon Ability Combination

Selecting your roster of Eikon abilities that synergize together is the foundation of a destruction-dealing build.

Through experimenting on some of the toughest optional bosses like Lionel the Lionhearted, I settled on a combination of Phoenix, Garuda and Ramuh abilities that crush through enemies:

- Rising Flames (Phoenix)
- Flames of Rebirth (Phoenix)
- Lightning Rod (Ramuh)
- Pile Drive (Ramuh)
- Aerial Blast (Garuda)
- Rook’s Gambit (Titan)

This loadout focuses on staggering enemies quickly then defeating them with extreme prejudice.

According to community testing, these also rank among the highest damage abilities when fully upgraded:

Rising Flames: 1302 damage
Lightning Rod: 1298 damage
Aerial Blast: 2700 damage

Now let me break down why each ability makes the cut:

Rising Flames enables devastating aerial juggle combos while building high stagger quickly – its modifiers dramatically enhance Clive‘s base combo by adding an additional +300% damage on airborne enemies. I use this constantly against grouped enemies to launch them then pick off air juggles.

Flames of Rebirth, combined with accessories that boost max HP regen like the Meaty Amulet, provides ridiculous sustain from the 2000+ damage fire pillars. I could face tank Lionel‘s brutal fixate combo because of the nonstop regen – popped Flames after dodging the first hit then regained full HP to survive the rest.

Lightning Rod and Pile Drive make controlling crowds effortless – chain them together then detonate the orb for obscene 5000+ damage explosions. Pile Drive‘s wider AoE means I effortlessly build 4+ combo chains to access Clive‘s limit breaker state faster against hordes…

I suggest mastering Rising Flames first since launching enemies juggles is critical then grab Aerial Blast for the tornado lockdown soon after. Flames of Rebirth should be next for sustaining Clive‘s relentless assault.

Of course, you can also build situationally powerful abilities like Thunderstorm and Terra Magic if you need specific enemy counters. But the above choices will empower you to dominate just about any encounter.

Game-Changing Eikonic Feats

While abilities dish out direct damage, Eikonic Feats provide unique effects that dramatically expand your tactical options:

- Phoenix Shift (Phoenix)
- Deadly Embrace (Garuda)
- Blind Justice (Ramuh)

Here‘s how I leverage these skills for complete battle control:

Phoenix Shift is my bread-and-butter for staggering bosses rapidly – I activate it to blitz straight at the enemy‘s face with a flurry of break attacks, building their break gauge super quickly…

I highly recommend unlocking Phoenix Shift first since mobility is critical for Clive‘s hit and run playstyle. Deadly Embrace and Blind Justice offer excellent defensive and offensive supplemental effects respectively.

Dominating Accessories

The right accessories can take your build‘s power to even greater heights. I specifically recommend equipping:

- Genji Gloves
- Ring of Timely Focus
- Berserker Ring

Here‘s how they enable you to unleash Clive‘s true destructive potential:

Genji Gloves‘ flat +5% damage applies to all your attacks – which translates to giant damage spikes once you begin stacking +Power from other sources like accessories, food buffs, weapon abilities etc.

My fully upgraded Rising Flames hits most enemies for ~2500 damage…with Genji Gloves equipped that easily reaches well over 2600 instead!

Ring of Timely Focus saved me countless times against Lionel, Azdaja and other terrifying superbosses by slowing time while dodging attacks. Rather than panic roll and pray I iframe their heavy hits at the right moment, I could calmly observe their telegraphs and dodge/parry appropriately. Use Tower Shield‘s perfect block counterattack for lots of free damage during the slowdown!

And Berserker Ring‘s temporary strength buff after perfect dodges enabled absolutely bonkers damage – we‘re talking easily 6k+ from Flames of Rebirth and 10k+ on Aerial Blast tornado ticks. Dodge an enemy attack then quickly follow up before the buff expires to smash them down faster!

These accessories will take your combat prowess to unprecedented levels – don‘t leave home without them equipped.

Weapons That Obliterate Enemies

As the final touch, arm yourself with these hard-hitting weapons suitable for all stages of the game for deleting foes with extreme prejudice:

Early Game: Flametongue
Mid Game: Grindstone
Late Game: Gotterdammerung

Here‘s a quick rundown:

Flametongue hits much harder than early weapons like Iron Sword. I used this slash through early bosses and hunts thanks to solid 230 Attack/15 Stagger.

Once you unlock Grindstone, make it immediately – easily the best damage for a mid-game weapon at 420 Attack/25 Stagger. The unique Osmosis ability also heals MP on hits which sustains your ability usage.

And Gotterdammerung stands head and shoulders above all other late game armaments with a monstrous 620 Attack/35 Stagger. Expect to smash enemies‘ Will gauges with just a couple hits! The bonus Phoenix Flame ability is just icing on the cake.

I still keep Flametongue and Grindstone handy since their unique abilities still prove useful even in endgame. But focus on building Gotterdammerung ASAP once materials become available and watch enemies melt before you!

Conclusion

If you adopt the complete FF16 best build detailed above with the recommended top-tier Eikon abilities, Eikonic feats, accessories and weapons, you will obtain:

  • Extreme damage potential
  • Relentless stagger power
  • Supreme crowd control and AoE attacks
  • Powerful self healing and sustain
  • Vastly improved mobility
  • Excellent damage mitigation

Few enemies can withstand your Eikon‘s onslaught for long once you master this setup. You will shred foes that once seemed unbeatable and clear content with ease on your journey to becoming Valisthea‘s ultimate champion!

While this is definitely the definitively strongest FF16 build available right now thanks to my extensive testing, don‘t be afraid to tweak and customize as new updates arrive. Have fun combining different Eikons and experiment with exciting ability combos tailored to your own personal playstyle too. That incredible depth of build variety gives FF16 nearly limitless replayability in my opinion.
