Skirt Steak Recipes

Skirt steak recipes usually include many southwestern dishes including fajitas.

The best way to prepare skirt steak before cooking is to pound them flat, marinate them for a short time and then cook over high heat. The skirt steak has fat scattered throughout so it can be a very juicy steak and can be used for many wonderful tasting meals.

Since fajitas are the most favorite skirt steak recipes let’s take a look at how to prepare fajitas and then a very unique recipe for fajitas.

The easiest and quickest way to prepare fajitas is to mix together olive oil, lime juice, red pepper, and garlic. Then place the skirt steak into a container with a lid, cover the entire steak with the mixture or marinate and refrigerate for 24 hours.

Now, you can grill the steak and place the steak in a warm tortilla shell and add all of the other ingredients that you desire. Some ideas include tomatoes, grilled onions, peppers, guacamole, refried beans, and salsa.

Skirt Steak

For a variation of the fajita skirt steak recipes you can try one that takes a little more work.

For this recipe you will need skirt steak:

  •  fajita seasoning, one green pepper,
  • one red pepper,
  • one jalapeno pepper,
  • one onion,
  • portabella mushrooms,
  • lettuce,
  • tomatoes,
  •  shredded cheddar cheese,
  • taco sauce,
  • sour cream,
  • tortilla shells,
  • refried beans, and
  • white rice.

You can use all of the above ingredients or just use the ones you want. You can also add your own favorite ingredients.

You start this recipe just like the last one by marinating the skirt steak; now fry the steak in a warm skillet. When the steak is ready add the vegetables cut into strips, include the seasoning and a small amount of water.

Cover and simmer until the vegetables are slightly tender. While this is simmering place the tomatoes, lettuce, sour cream, taco sauce, and cheese in separate bowls or saucers, for your guests to choose what they want to use. Cook the white rice and heat the refried beans.

For an added twist you can add a can of tomato with chilies to the rice. Warm the tortilla shells. Your meal is now ready. Your guests should be able to make their own fajitas and serve themselves the rice and refried beans as well.
