Cooking Recipe Prime Rib

For this cooking recipe for prime rib you will need:

  • an 8-pound prime rib roast (Sometimes called in your local grocery store, rib eye)
  • 8 tablespoons of pepper,
  • 8 tablespoons of garlic powder,
  • ½ cup of salt,
  • 4 sliced onions,
  • 2 tablespoons of salt,
  • 2 tablespoons of white pepper,
  • 2 tablespoons of pepper,
  • 5 teaspoons of dry mustard, and
  • 5 teaspoons of cayenne pepper.

First, you must prepare your roast by removing the fat in one piece and reserving it for later.

Cut slits into the meat about ½ inch deep so the spices can soak into the roast. Place the roast in a large baking dish or roasting pan. Be sure you have room in the refrigerator to accommodate the roast.

Now, sprinkle the prime rib with pepper, now, garlic powder and now the salt. Be sure the salt completely covers the layer of salt. On top of the salt layer place the sliced onions. Cover and place in the refrigerator over night. Remember to also refrigerate the fat. The next morning, when you are ready to cook your prime rib, place the fat piece back on top of the prime rib.

Pre-heat your oven to 550 degrees Fahrenheit. Now, bake until the fat is golden brown. Place the roast back into the refrigerator and chill for around 2 hours.

Take off the fat, the onions and the seasonings. Cut into the prime rib in between the ribs. In a small bowl mix together the salt, white peppers, pepper, dry mustard, and cayenne pepper. Sprinkle the mixture over the prime rib and cook in a skillet until black. Use a meat thermometer to ensure desired doneness.
