Top 5 Garage Remodeling Ideas

Make This Room In Your House Work For You And Your Family

There are some changes we all want to make to our garages. Some of these changes are big and some are small.

When it comes to the small changes, you may want to start by fitting compressed air lines in your garage or installing a remote-controlled door. You may only need to make small changes to your garage if you want to use it to park your car.

However, if you want to, you could turn your garage into an extra room in your house. It could provide you with some much needed extra space. Give you somewhere peaceful to work. Or maybe you could even create somewhere to try out a new hobby.

Today, we are going to share with you 5 popular rooms you could remodel your garage into.

#1 – Laundry Room

Laundry Room

Are you fed up with constantly having to listen to your tumble dryer rumbling? Are you fed up with your kitchen steaming up as your clothes dry? Are you fed up with sacrificing the cupboard space you keep all your laundry liquids in?

Why not convert your garage into a laundry and wetroom…

The loud machines will be out of the way. You can keep all of your liquids in one place. And you can even have somewhere peaceful to do the ironing before work.

The room can double as an airing cupboard and you can store your extra bedding and towels there.

Fit the room with a good amount of storage and high-quality tiles.

#2 – Recording Studio

If you like music – whether that is listening or playing – then you could dedicate your garage to it. Make it into a room where you can retreat after a bad day or if you want some alone time.

Why not set up a top-of-the-range sound system, soundproof the walls, and display your favorite albums. Get your record player out of the attic and make a space that will allow you to enjoy its unique sound.

If you like making music then you could turn the room into a mini recording studio. Don't forget to add extra plug sockets into the room if you want to do this.

You could use the room as a podcast recording studio if you want to. If you want to do this you will need to make space for a desk and high-quality recording equipment.

#3 – Home Office

Home Office

Are you working at home after the pandemic?

There is no need to settle for a gloomy and cramped home office where you can hear everything that happens in your house. There is no need to share your office space with the family dinner table or the spare room.

Why not convert your garage into a sanctuary and a home office…

You can add a little bit of soundproofing to the walls, lay down nice wooden flooring, and move all your office furniture into the room.

Don't forget to add a small corner where you can take breaks to clear your mind. You might also want to think about adding a coffee machine to the room.

#4 – Library

If you like reading, writing, or drawing, why not create a peaceful space in your garage to enjoy the finer things in life?

If you are like us then you have a big enough book collection to dedicate a whole room to it. Why not get them out of all the rooms in your home and have one dedicated space to keep them in.

You can install a set of bookcases or build the storage straight onto the walls. Of course, you should also get a ladder on wheels to help you peruse your collection.

#5 – Kid's Den

Kid's Den

Our final suggestion is to turn your garage into a den for your children.

This will give them a space that is exclusively theirs. They will be able to get their toys out, make a mess, and be as loud as they want in there. This is also the perfect place for you all to do some family activities together.

Leaving you free to enjoy the rest of your home in peace.

When you are building this den, think about all the things you wanted as a child – a big chest to store your toys, walls covered in fantastical paintings, a kid-sized sofa?

With the right design, you can make this into a really special place that they will treasure and adore for the rest of their lives.
