4 of the Funniest Films for Your 4/20 Fix

The 4/20 holiday is a favorite for many, even if it’s not nationally recognized. It’s the day that many thousands of people celebrate their favorite type of plant: marijuana.

The name “4/20” may have come from a high school student ritual in the 1970s when Californian teenagers would smoke marijuana every day at 4:20pm. The figure ‘420’ soon became code for smoking it, and it was converted for calendar purposes.

If you celebrate this interesting holiday and want to maximize on the occasion, here are some of the funniest films to add to your watchlist.

Dude, Where’s My Car?

Dude, Where’s My Car

If there’s one film to watch while consuming quality CBD products from manufacturers like Joy Organics, it’s Dude, Where’s My Car? This film was released in 2000 and followed two friends, Chester and Jesse, who need to work out what happened the night before so that they can find their car.

Their journey leads them on some crazy adventures, and you won’t be able to help but laugh at the antics they get up to. This movie with Ashton Kutcher and Seann William Scott has some incredibly dry humor, but you’re bound not to notice when you’re genuinely in the 4/20 mood.

Super Troopers

You can tell just by looking at the movie art that Super Troopers won’t be a film you’ll forget in a hurry. It’s a 2001 American comedy film that grossed $23 million and did so well that a sequel, Super Troopers 2, was released in 2018.

The movie follows five Vermont state troopers known for making mistakes and performing a few pranks along the way. Realizing their jobs might be on the line, they try to save them by outdoing the local police department in solving a serious crime. The film reviews are surprisingly positive, so it might be worth bringing out the popcorn for this classic.

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz

The Wizard of Oz isn’t supposed to be a film that gives you those 4/20 vibes, but its production era causes it to have that effect. The tin man, scarecrow, the wizard himself, and even the green-faced wicked witch of the west can’t help but have you glued to the TV screen. The bright yellow brick road and the way the witch melts into nothingness may also be what lures you in for a closer look at this movie to celebrate 4/20.

Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas

If you don’t want to step too far outside of your comfort zone with movies, then you can stick with the tried and true 4/20 films like Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. This 1998 movie was based on the 1971 novel by Hunter S. Thompson and followed a journalist and his lawyer heading to Vegas to cover a motorbike racing event.

What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, so the boys end up indulging in recreational drugs that put them in some unique situations. While the general population may not think much of the lack of character depth, it won’t take you long to realize why it’s a 4/20 favorite.

Whether you celebrate 4/20 or not, there’s something truly special about these movies and how easily they can make you laugh. Now might be the right time to stockpile some movie snacks, invite over some friends, and begin your movie marathon in earnest.
